Talks & Slideshows
I give regular talks and sideshows based on my books to a wide range of groups. These include the W.I., Probus, National Trust, University of the Third Age (U3A), church and historical groups, private clubs etc.
The fee charged is currently £60 and .45p per mile for travel expenses, both include VAT and assume I may offer my books for sale after the talk - without any obligation of course. A discount is offered for sales at the talk.
I have all my own equipment - screen, laptop and projector - and can deliver the talks anywhere.
Talks currently include:
"Norfolk - A History Through Its Village Signs".
This includes many slides of some of the fascinating village signs in my book and their history, with a lot of amusing personal anecdotes.
The talk is always very well received and audience members are actively encouraged to take part and offer their own personal stories. A lively evening results and it is rare when I don't learn something new myself.
This talk is very similar to the safety talks I deliver to major companies as part of my "day job" as a professional driver risk assessor. The talk draws heavily on my experience as a police traffic officer, with tips and techniques for defensive driving gathered from the various courses I undertook.
The techniques are simple to learn but will make any driver a great deal safer - especially in difficult conditions.
It matters not at all how old you are or how long you have been driving - this talk and slideshow will be a fascinating experience and you will definitely leave it having learned much of real value for life, to make you and your passengers safer.
